University of Makeup Full Makeup Course
A couple of weeks ago I joined the University of Makeup for their Full Makeup Course to expand on my makeup skills and learn interesting new tricks. Plus, after I finish my courses, I get a certification (which you don't need to be a makeup artist but it definitely is nice to have when so many other don't). It also doesn't hurt that they have an online store that sells makeup (all kinds of brands - MAC included) and skincare products that University of Makeup students get discounts on (members also get free shipping).
I've only gotten through the first 5 lessons (about). I had heard the videos were tedious and always feature the same woman (Anneke La Grange) applying makeup on herself and that the video quality was great.
Boring Videos? Yes, the videos are tedious...but why didn't anyone mention how terribly annoying they are? While Anneke may have a lot of valuable information to share, she just smiles and talks awkwardly to the camera the whole time with an accent that irritates me.
Video Quality: I'm not sure what year those reviews were written but the videos are good enough that you can see what is happening, but its totally going overboard to call them "great." Aside from the video quality, the videos open with dated background melodies that sound like they are from a quinceƱera video. One of them even changed scenes by shrinking the screen shot into a paper airplane that flew into and out of the next scene.
In any case, I will keep trucking through these lessons and learning! I'll let you know how my experience went when I'm all done!

Sally Hansen Nail Polish Strips & Essie Sand Tropez
Almost a year ago, I wrote a blog post about the sucky nail stickers I tried from FabulousNails. I am not just a complainer - I do give credit where its due.
Sally Hansen Salon Effects Real Nail Polish Strips are THE BOMB! They are easy to apply (not just apply, but apply well and smoothly) and they stay on until you take them off with nail polish remover.
Here are some pictures of my nails with Sally Hansen Salon Effects Real Nail Polish Strips; then the Sally Hansen Nail Polish Strip used as an accent for Essie Sand Tropez; then just my nails with Essie Sand Tropez (a color I love).
Which nail look is your favorite?

Great Deal: 2012 Sephora Collection Color Daze Blockbuster
Sephora is having a Beauty Insider's Deal on the 2012 SEPHORA COLLECTION Color Daze Blockbuster, a 148-piece color palette. Get this limited edition palette for $49.50 online until September 1st.
I bought it today with free 3-day shipping.
Couple of tips to get more bang for your buck:
- Visit RetailMeNot to get an extra something on the side with one of their many promo codes.
- You need $0.50 more to get free shipping. If you don't, shipping is $5.95 and then tax is added. You're better off added something that costs $4 to $5 to your cart since you're gonna end up paying that anyway.

Bold but Clean Liquid Eyeliner
Here are some photos of a shoot I did with Confer Photography Group. I just concentrated on the skin and used some black liquid eyeliner. I love the before and after shot. Share your thoughts!

Talia - Makeup is My Wig
Talia is 12 year old girl who LOVES to do makeup.
Five years ago, Talia was diagnosed with neuroblastoma (cancer that starts in certain types of the original nerve cells found in an embryo or fetus). She is bald from the chemo but she doesn't wear a wig. Instead, this young artist is all about makeup and her motto is "Makeup is My Wig."
Talia has a YouTube channel where she gives a variety of different makeup tutorials.
I've never seen someone so young who knows how to do makeup so well!
Talia was doing better for a while but on August 7th, she posted a new video on her VLOG that she now also has pre-leukimia in her bone marrow. There are not really any treatments for it and the prognosis is 4 months to a year if she doesn't get a bone marrow transplant. She is hesitant to continue undergoing treatment and instead wants to enjoy every minute she has.
Her one wish: To be Ellen DeGeneres' makeup artist for a day! If you want to help her, visit www.ellen.warnerbros.com/show.
